DRIED COMFREY: GENERAL USES

(Health & Beauty)

DRIED COMFREY: INFUSION LIQUIDS

(Health & Beauty)

* WATER INFUSION

for BODY SOAK "TEA"

Dry Comfrey (and Fresh Comfrey) can be steeped or infused in water for various uses such as: a relaxing body soak, a compress, or for use in a poultice. When preparing a "tea" for body soaks, the process is different from traditional methods used to make Plant "Tea" Fertilizer where the leaves are left to decompose over weeks. Instead, the dried or fresh leaves are steeped in warm to hot water for a shorter period of time, typically 30 to 120 minutes, to extract their beneficial properties without rotting the plant material.

The leaves can be used for more than one steeping session to fully extract all of the leaves available minerals. Even then the leaf remains contain traces amounts of beneficial mineral material and may be chopped and recycled into the soil as an amender for your flower pots or your garden plot.

It is also used to promote faster healing of bruising and to soothe and calm minor burns that have unbroken skin. *Infused oil is also a component of salve, ointment and cream formulation. The method to make an infused oil is similar to making a water based Body Soak "Tea". However, there are more terms, ingredients and infusion techniques to understand and consider. Dried Comfrey ~ Animals

***Always consult your veterinarian before giving your animals Dried Comfrey.

***Mountain Fables Comfrey comes with leaves and stems in the package. If your veterinarian okays occasional Comfrey treats use caution, some animals may not be able to chew or digest the dried stem. Place the Dried Comfrey in a brown bag and roll on a hard surface or crush by hand. The Comfrey leaves are very dry and will easily fall from the stem pieces. Save the stem pieces for a small batch of fertilizer tea, infused oil or sprinkle in with flower pot soil. Also: Give your animal a small amount at first to test for allergic reactions.

🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿

When the flowers have died down the stems, heavy with spent flower and large leaves, droop and fall to the ground. The natural dying and drying  of the old foliage begins. Leaves and stems start to brown and blacken.

After fully drying it takes approximately nine (9) months for the plant to fully decompose into the ground. After a long winter, new growth springs up amidst the drying, decomposing old plant matter. The color of the dead plant takes on an old grayish brown tone and the once vibrant leaf and stem structures look frail. The discoloration of Comfrey is a normal parts of its life cycle. When left undisturbed, this process enriches the soil with vital nutrients, allowing Comfrey to perform as the exceptional soil enhancer it is celebrated for.

Comfrey Takes Several Weeks To Dry When Harvested.

Time and Coloration is dependent on weather conditions. Meaning...

Each harvest has its own color palette.
