COMFREY, BOCKING 14 (Symphytum officinale)

Chances are if you are here, looking for Comfrey, you already familiar with all or many of its famous attributes. If you are new to Comfrey then there is a lot to know. It has been an invaluable friend to households around the world – for centuries. Its key benefits are its dynamic minerals and compounds. As a deep rooted tap herb Comfrey brings up minerals from the ground that other plant's roots can't access – making it great for making liquid plant food (fertilizer "Tea"). It benefits household Health and Beauty needs because it contains several important compounds, two of which are: allantoin known for cell regeneration and rosmarinic acid known for antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Because of its many uses it is still a staple in many homes today. Dried Comfrey, for storage, makes it available to use whenever the need arises. There is however a danger associated with this product. Comfrey contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids, a toxin which can cause liver damage or cancer leading to death.See FDA warning below. PROCESSING:

Mountain Fables Dried Comfrey is Environmentally Grown, Harvested and Dried. No chemicals or organic fertilizers. Wildlife's use of the plant is respected. Dried without the use of electricity. Cut and chopped by hand. **Although care is taken to hang clean product it is not processed as a food produt and should only be used as descibed below.

INSIDE THE PACKAGE:

Ruff cut (uneven pieces) of Comfrey leaves, stems and leaf powder. ( I believe in using some of the stem.) The Comfrey is very dry and I pack the bags very tightly so there is some crumbling of the leaf - which eventually settles to the bottom of the package forming what I call fairy dust... or leaf powder if you prefer. It is not cut evenly or sifted. Instructions on how to make Comfrey Fertilizer "Tea" are included.

 

PRODUCT COLOR:

Mountain Fables' Comfrey dries in varying shades of browns and greens. Each bunch within a natual drying cycle produces it's own various shades of deep browns to a mix of greens. View pictures for shade ranges.
